(TS) – X may mark the spot but Acer is the type of company that has more than one buried treasure and that’s why today we’re talking about a new Aspire series laptop line – Ethos. Playing the multimedia card, the first models to bear the Ethos name are the 15.6-inch (1366×768) 5943G and 18.4-inch (1920×1080) 8943G which come with a slim metallic chassis and feature a Core i3, i5 or i7 processor, up to 4GB of RAM, one (or two on the 8943G) hard drive(s) with a capacity of up to 640GB, a DX11-ready Mobility Radeon HD 5650 or HD 5850 graphics card (with 1GB VRAM), and a DVD or Blu-ray drive.

The new models also boast Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, optional Bluetooth, a mult-card reader, a webcam, a multi-gesture touchpad, optional TV tuner, and 2.1 (5943G_ or 5.1 (8943G) sound.

The Aspire Ethos 5943G and 8943G are pre-loaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and have a declared battery life of up to 3.5 hours (8-cell battery). Unfortunately, the prices and/or release date(s) of the laptops have not been announced.
