(TS) – AMD has now let loose the first professional graphics solution based on the 40nm Cypress GPU, the Radeon HD 5870-resembling ATI FirePro V8800. Claimed to be the “most powerful” professional card ever created, the V8800 features 1600 Stream Processors, a core clock of 825 MHz, a 256-bit memory interface backed by 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM @ 4600 MHz, a 3-bit display pipeline, four DisplayPort outputs, and a maximum power draw of 225W (it has two 6-pin PCIe connectors).
AMD’s card includes support for DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0 & 3.2, OpenCL 1.0, for CrossFire Pro, the ATI Eyefinity multi-display technology, and is now available for order @ $1,499.
