(TS) – Yesterday Canon has done a marvelous job of beating up the news with bits of excitement on their brand new Canon EOS M camera system, the latest bit being some accessories not yet available to the public. What you’ll be seeing here that’s different from what’s been revealed earlier today is a lovely new body jacket of many colors, matching neck straps, and an additional Speedlite for you flash shooters.
Apart from the sample shots, Canon has also released a promo video and it is safe to say that Canon is targeting Instagrammers with its new camera. Shots taken from the new EOS M look great and there are video clips recorded from the new camera too. Both things have been done in different settings and look pretty stunning.
The EOS M brings the best of both: portability and image quality. The body of the camera itself easily fits in the palm of the hand. The camera is available in four colors, including black, white, silver and red.
The video capabilities on the EOS M are also impressive given its size; it captures 1080p video at 24, 25 or 30 frames per second and it has an external microphone jack in addition to a built-in stereo microphone, Audio options include a wind filter and an attenuator function to reduce audio distortion in loud shooting environments.
The first-generation Canon mirrorless camera will use a new lens mount, but you can use Canon EF and EF-S lenses via an optional mount adapter sold separately. Canon has designed two new lenses specifically for its new camera format: The EF-M 22mm f/2 STM kit lens and the optional EF-M 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens. The EOS M system has a focal-length multiplier of 1.6x.
The Canon EOS M will go on sale in October, priced at $799.99.
