(TS) – Cougar has introduced a high-end mini gaming tower PC casing, the Cougar Spike, which aims to deliver expansion capabilities in a micro-ATX space-saving design.

New Cougar SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case

Indeed, the Spike uses a screw-less hardware installation system, which is convenient when installing HDDs, SSDs or ODDs.

But we digress. We should first say what type of enclosure Cougar has released, and then proceed from there.

The Spike is a mini-tower which, nonetheless, has enough room inside for graphics cards of 330 mm in length (12.99 inches).

New Cougar SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case

That said, micro-ATX motherboard should fit inside just fine, but anything larger will need a different enclosure.

Then again, micro-ATX motherboards do a good job of providing all the features of full-size mainboards, with the number of PCI Express and memory slots being the only real differences.

New Cougar SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case

That is the main reason that Cougar expects good sales. The other reasons, besides the tool-less construction, are the standard features: a 120 mm rear fan, support for three more spinners (80-120 mm). The bottom area for 2.5-inch SSDs is the last and unusual bonus.

Finally, the COUGAR SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case has a front I/o panel with audio jacks, an USB 2.0 port and one USB 3.0 connector, plus the obligatory Power and Reset buttons (blue LEDs).

New Cougar SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case

All in all, Cougar may have actually done a good job justifying the price of $39.99 / 30-39.99 Euro. We’ve embedded the video below, for your convenience, but further information can be found on the product page. Shipments should already be underway. If they are not, they will start soon, within a week or so.

New Cougar SPIKE Mini Gaming Tower PC Case

(TS) – NZXT has built the Phantom series cases to be aspired by gamers through it’s clean modern aesthetics and the highly convenient functionality. Today we introduce the NZXT Phantom 630, the latest in the family which brings cutting edge features in a next generation design including Interchangeable fully-modular HDD cases, pivoting fan mount and a single 30-watt controller with four high endurance fans included. The chassis can fit up to an XL-ATX motherboard on a smart split-level motherboard tray allowing for incredibly neat cable management. USB 3.0/2.0 along with an integrated card reader, illuminated I/O panel and dust filter also complete the case.

New NZXT Phantom 630 High Performance Modular Full Tower

Even with all of the bays in place, the Phantom can accomodate high performance cooling needs, with 3x 120 and 2x 120 radiator support simultaneously. By utilizing the modular HDD cages, a virtually endless number of possible water cooling configurations is available, no matter what the enthusiast needs.

New NZXT Phantom 630 High Performance Modular Full Tower

As far as clearance and cooling goes, there’s 325mm VGA card clearance (507mm without HDD cage), and 170mm clearance for the CPU cooler (200mm without side panel fan). Room for up to ten fans has been included as well while the case already comes with a 200mm side fan, a 140mm rear fan, and a 200mm fan on both the top and front. The rear, bottom, and HDD bays can all accomodate 140mm or 120mm fans. Meanwhile, the front panel will fit either one 200mm, two 140mm or two 120mm fans.

New NZXT Phantom 630 High Performance Modular Full Tower

If that isn’t enough cooling options for you, the Phantom 630 also includes an integrated high-power 30 watt single-channel fan controller and a rear-mounted fan hub for simple fan control installation. A split level ATX form factor motherboard tray ensures that no matter what setup you go for, there’s ample cable management space.

New NZXT Phantom 630 High Performance Modular Full Tower

Some of the other features included are removable dust filters for easy care and maintenance, external peripheral support – multiple USB 3.0 and 2.0 ports, and an integrated SD card reader. Just in case anyone has difficulty plugging things into their PC in the dark, NZXT has also included rear I/O port and internal component illumination on the Phantom 630, enabled by simply flicking a switch.

New NZXT Phantom 630 High Performance Modular Full Tower

(TS) – The list of computer cases from the company Abee Corporation , a model Acubic D80 format Mid Tower, available in black or white coloration outside. It is characterized by thick steel panels, which can be 1 mm-thick in some parts (such as detachable panels), and 0.8 mm-thick on others (such as the framework). The thicker steel makes it heavy, but also vibrates lesser, resulting in lower noise output by vibration. The outer walls of the panels are given a fine matte finish that doesn’t invite prints.

Abee intros Acubic D80 Series ATX Mid-Tower Cases

Internally, the Acubic D80 uses two drive cages, one which stacks drives on top of each other, and the other besides each other, like dominoes. The arrangement creates over 32 cm of legroom for expansion cards. A total of five 3.5-inch drives, a slot of one of which converts to two 2.5-inch bays, can be installed.

Abee intros Acubic D80 Series ATX Mid-Tower Cases

That said, the chassis has all the standard assets (several expansion slots, a PSU locations, etc.), but also some unusual things.

HDDs and SSDs, for instance, get to sit in one of two drive cages. One of them stacks the drives on top of the other, while the other places them next to each other.

Abee intros Acubic D80 Series ATX Mid-Tower Cases

Ventilation includes two 120 mm front intakes, and a 120 mm rear exhaust. The case sees a return of the top-mounted PSU bay. Front-panel connectivity includes USB 3.0 (standard header) and HD audio.

Abee intros Acubic D80 Series ATX Mid-Tower Cases

The Abee Acubic D80 case measures 204 x 426 x 415 mm (8.03 x 16.77 x 16.33 inches). It sells for 20,980 JPY (US $256 / 197-256 Euro) in white or black.

Abee intros Acubic D80 Series ATX Mid-Tower Cases

(TS) – Shuttle, well-known the mini PC maker, has recently officially announced its first NAS server that called the Shuttle OMNINAS KD20. Coming with 2.5mm stylish aluminum housing, this device is suitable for small offices, workgroups and home use.

Shuttle intros OMNINAS KD20 low-energy 2-bay NAS server

Shuttle could have entered the market of energy efficient network-attached storage devices at any time, but it chose not to.It may have been because it felt fine where it was on the market, or because it believed the NAS industry wasn’t all that big and, thus, profitable yet. Whichever the case may be, Shuttle is now in the game, directly opposed to Synology, Thecus, Sharkoon, and all others of their ilk.

Shuttle intros OMNINAS KD20 low-energy 2-bay NAS server

“In view of the growing number of networked, often portable terminals, central data storage increases convenience of data handling as each machine on the network has access to the same content,” said Tom Seiffert, head of marketing and PR at Shuttle Computer Handels GmbH. “At the same time, mechanisms such as mirrored hard drives give enhanced fail-safe operation. When on the move, apps enable password-protected access to the NAS.”

Shuttle intros OMNINAS KD20 low-energy 2-bay NAS server

The OMNINAS KD20, as Shuttle’s first NAS is called, has two hot-swappable drive bays that can hold 3.5-inch HDDs (hard disk drives) with capacities of up to 4 TB each.RAID-1 mode (mirroring, for high data security), RAID-0 (striping, for maximum speed) and JBOD modes are supported. Furthermore, the S.M.A.R.T. System can be used to monitor the status of each drive.

As for the exterior of the product, the OMNINAS KD20 NAS device is housed in aluminum, uses an 80 mm fan for cooling (only if HDD temperatures rise above certain limits) and has an I/O panel with one USB 3.0 port, two USB 2.0 ports, an SD card reader and, naturally, Gigabit Ethernet. Switches and WLAn wireless routers are compatible.

Shuttle is currently shipping the OMNINAS KD20 NAS for 129 Euro / 129-168 Euro.

(TS) – MSI recently introduced a new all-in-one PC under its Wind Top family — the MSI Wind Top AE2051. Interestingly, it is a 20″ touchscreen all-in-one with AMD E2-1800 APU and AMD Radeon HD 7340 graphics. The MSI AE2051 is not only a stylish personal computer, it is also the ideal home entertainment center. Equipped with the AMD Brazos 2.0 APU platform combined with the E2-1800 APU processor, the MSI AE2051 will become available in Europe from the second week of September.

New MSI Wind Top AE2051 Touchscreen All-in-one PC

The MSI AE2051 is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports. MSI’s Super Charger technology on one of the USB3.0 ports not only makes it possible to charge your USB device while the computer is switched off, but also reduces charging times up to 40%. HDMI-out is also supported for displaying videos on a larger display such as projectors and TVs. Moreover, the MSI AE2051 can also be used as external display with MSI’s unique Instant Display Technology, in combination with the HDMI-in port. That way, the 20″ screen can perfectly show all multi media content even from an external system.

New MSI Wind Top AE2051 Touchscreen All-in-one PC

The MSI Wind Top AE2051 incorporates Smart Media Link and Smart Sync, two of MSI’s latest developments, which take advantage of cloud technology. Smart Media Link allows the user to play videos, music, show photos and DLNA-supporting tv content on WiFi and LAN. Using MSI Smart Sync, you can sync the data on your AIO, including Outlook contacts and calendar, as well as photos, music, texts and bookmarks with other computers or mobile phones.

New MSI Wind Top AE2051 Touchscreen All-in-one PC

MSI has developed a lot of powerful software, including its exclusive Quick Fix self-maintenance program that searches for and fixes any problems which might occur. It determines whether it can repair a particular issue and is equipped to provide self-test results that can be used as reference by maintenance personnel. Moreover, it can also update drivers immediately online, so that your machine is always up-to-date.

The 23-inch IPS display is 0.8 inches thick, offers a 1920 x 1080 resolution and supports ten-finger multitouch. More importantly, it’ll be running Windows 8 — the 27-inch IdeaCentre A720 lacked an IPS display and was saddled with Windows 7, sapping much of its touch-centric potential.Like its larger predecessor, the A520′s display is attached to a hinge that allows the screen to fold flat like a table: there isn’t much of a use case for that feature right now, but it could bode well for board or card games created with Windows 8 tablets in mind.

Lenovo intros IdeaCentre A520, the 23-inch desktop tablet

The HDMI-in and HDMI-out ports will cater to gamers of a different sort, will the usual assortment of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 sockets round out the connectivity options. The IdeaCentre A520′s base model is equipped with a 2.4GHz Intel Ivy Bridge Core i3-3110M processor, but that CPU can be beefed up to a quad-core 2.7GHz Core i7-3820QM. Upgrade options also include up to 8GB of RAM and 1TB of hard drive space, an Nvidia Geforce 615 GPU and a Blu-ray drive. The all-in-one will be available in October, and start at $999.

(TS) – The ECS’s catalog grows with the arrival of a new mini-ITX motherboard: the HDC-I2/C60. This is for the industrial market, but nothing prevents the use in a HTPC…

ECS Launches Mini-ITX IPC HDC-I2/C60 AMD-Based Motherboard

We say this because the latter is not a low-end board at all, but a high-end platform forced to make do with a very small package. What makes this situation doubly curious is that ECS’s product is not primarily aimed at multimedia systems. Instead, it is an industrial PC (IPC) mini-ITX motherboard.

ECS Launches Mini-ITX IPC HDC-I2/C60 AMD-Based Motherboard

Powered by a 24-pin ATX connector, the mainboard supports a C-60 accelerated processing unit (APU) from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).Featuring two cores that run at 1 GHz, the APU also includes a Radeon HD 6290 GPU, made of 80 Stream processors. Its core speed is 276 MHz, or 400 MHz when Turbo Core is in effect.

The APU is wired to a pair of DDR3 DIMM memory slots, with support for up to 4 GB each. Thus, the top RAM capacity in any system based on the HDC-I2/C60 is 8 GB DDR3-1333 MHz.

Other specs include a single fan-heatsink for cooling (the APU and FCH), two SATA 6.0 Gbps ports, 6-channel HD audio, 10 USB 2.0 ports (four via headers, six on the back panel), Gigabit Ethernet and two display outputs (D-Sub and HDMI with 7.1 channel audio). As one can see, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 support is the only thing lacking, so anything that communicates over Universal Serial Bus will be limited to 480 Mbps.

We don’t know what price ECS will want in exchange for the HDC-I2/C60 mini-ITX IPC motherboard, but we suspect it won’t be high, given the previous-generation hardware. Shipments will begin by the end of the month (August 2012), so we’ll find out then.

(TS) – LG just published some pictures of their new line of All-In-One (AIO) PCs that will be known as the LG V720. Technically speaking there are two different models of PCs in this line up, but they both share a similar design with a 27-inch IPS LED HD monitor and a base that contains the ‘logic center’ of the PC.

LG V720 all-in-one PCs, IPS &Ivy Bridge 27-inch

Pictured above (if you look closely enough), the display of the LG V720 is separated from the logic portion, which is located on the base. This arrangement allows the screen to have slim bezels. The display is internally wired to the logic portion, although it can take external input by HDMI. The display features 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, and supports stereoscopic 3D, with a native 2D-to-3D converter.

LG V720 all-in-one PCs, IPS &Ivy Bridge 27-inch

The V720-D.AE50K, on the other hand [pay attention!], is driven by Intel Core i5-3210M “Ivy Bridge” quad-core processor clocked at 2.50 GHz, with 8 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory, 750 GB HDD with 16 GB cache-SSD, DVD Super-Multi drive, NVIDIA GeForce GT 640 M graphics with 1 GB dedicated memory. Features common between the two variants include USB 3.0, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi networking, 4-in-1 card reader, and a TV tuner.

LG V720 all-in-one PCs, IPS &Ivy Bridge 27-inch

A translated version of LG’s page appears to state that the PCs will launch in about 23 days. LG’s new offerings are in keeping with recent trends, which have seen PC makers moving more toward offering all-in-one PCs at the expense of traditional desktops, due largely to demand for the more versatile form factors.

No word on pricing so far.
