Buffalo Intros HD-PVRU2 Portable HDDs with Turbo USB Technology
(TS) – Buffalo is about to release their newest portable hard drive ‘HD-PVRU2′ for the Japanese market. The HD-PVRU2 comes in capacities of 320 GB and 500 GB. It measures 81 (W) x 16 (H) x 130 (D) mm, and weighs 190 g.

It draws power from, and connects to the system using USB 2.0 interface. A proprietary Turbo USB technology aims to squeeze the most out of USB 2.0, with some higher transfer speeds.
The increased speeds of USB 3.0 are looked forward to by end-users because they make writing large files over USB up to ten times faster.
Through USB 2.0, filling up 320GB of storage space, not to mention 500GB, takes a very long time. This is also one of the reasons why some customers might not use USB drives as backup solutions.
The Buffalo HD-PVRU2 will strike Japan during a finish of Mar in dual opposite versions 320GB ($100) as well as 500GB ($150).
Western Digital debuts the My Passport AV media drive
HDD and SSD maker Western Digital has rolled out a new My Passport series storage solution which is specifically aimed towards video storage and playback. The My Passport AV portable drive boasts 320GB worth of storage space, weights 180 grams, has a USB 2.0 interface and can connect to game consoles, Blu-ray Disc players, or media players, like WD TV, so you’ll be able to view your media on a large-screen TV.

The HDD also comes with the Direct Copy feature which enables Sony Handycam owners to offload and archive HD video without a PC.

“With more and more devices capable of generating and playing back HD video – camcorders, Blu-ray players, game consoles – portable hard drives are the best solution for this 8 GB-per-hour capacity-intensive content. The My Passport AV portable media drive is optimized for a better digital video experience with a growing list of consumer electronics, starting with Sony’s latest camcorders and Blu-ray players,” said Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing for WD’s branded products group.

The 320GB My Passport AV portable HDD is backed by a two-year warranty and costs $109.99.
