(TS) – Via its Direct2Dell blog, Dell has yesterday announced the European introduction of the Inspiron Mini 1018 and promised that the netbook will become available in markets outside Europe this fall. The Mini 1018 is designed for everyday computing and is based on Intel’s Pine Trail platform.
The EU-available netbook has a high gloss Obsidian Black coating, the same curvy hinge-forward design as the Mini 1012, a textured palm rest, a touchpad with ‘discrete’ buttons and single gesture functionality, and comes with Windows 7 Starter and Skype pre-installed.

Hardware-wise, the Mini 1018 boasts a 10.1-inch (1024 x 600) display, a 92% sized keyboard, 1GB of DDR3 memory, a GMA 3150 integrated graphics, a 160/250GB hard drive, a 0.3 megapixel webcam, 10/100 LAN, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, optional Bluetooth 3.0, and a 3- or 6-cell battery. The machine start at €279.
