(TS) – In the High End 2013 Conference held in Munich, Germany, the electronics company iRiver announced its second MQS portable player from the Astell & Kern product line – AK120. The full name of the MQS is the Mastering Quality Sound, as iRiver’s high-end brands, the launch date of Astell & Kern first MQS portable player was in December 2012 (AK100).
Unlike the iRiver AK100 with around $700, the new iRiver’s AK120 is priced at $1,300. That’s includes a leather case that handmade Italian-designed. Inside, the AK120 has features two digital-to-analog converters with dual Wolfson WM8740 DAC chips each. Apart from 64GB of internal memory, you’ll able to expand storage space up to 192GB via dual microSD card support.
iRiver AK120 pocket-sized MQS player packs a 2.4-inch QVGA (320 x 240) IPS touchscreen display. This high-end MQS player is support a range of audio formats – WAV, FLAC, WMA, MP3, OGG, APE, AAC, ALAC and AIFF, as well as DSD. Based on its measures (59.2 x 79 x 14.4mm), the AK120 is a slightly larger than the previous model, AK100. It’s weighing 122 grams. The 2000mAh Li-Polymer battery is enabling to use 16 hours of continuous playback, while charge time is about 5 hours.
