(TS) – The USB 2.0 self-powered Rikiki measures in at 109.7×75×13.4 mm, which is just over a full inch shorter than the small Seagate FreeAgent line. The drives are available now with prices start at $74.99 for the 250GB and climb to $109 and $149 respectively for the 500GB and 640GB options. No word on whether LaCie will be dropping a clip-on monkey into the box with every purchase; you probably just get a USB cable.

The ultra-compact drive makes use of the ubiquitous USB 2.0 interface and is compatible with both Macs and PCs. However, Windows users are able to use the “USB Boost software” which supposedly increases the transfer speed by up to 33%.

“Rikiki”, meanwhile, is French for tiny, so the drive is a linguistics lesson as well as a place to offload your media files to. We’re not sure if the monkey is French – surely he’d be wearing a beret if that were the case.
