(TS) – The first casualty of ever-slimming Ultrabooks are big connectors, such as D-Sub and Ethernet, not to mention a severely limited number of USB ports. The GIGA LAN-GTJU3H3 and LAN-TXU2H3A (pictured in that order) take in one USB connection, which is split between three downstream ports, and an NDIS-compliant Ethernet connection.
The devices are sized 80 x 60 x 20 millimetres and weigh 50 grams.
Both hubs connect to your system through USB and offer three such ports, in addition to a full-size Ethernet connector. The black version sends its data over USB 3.0 and provides users with Gigabit LAN functionality. The white model is of the USB 2.0 type, limiting internet speed to 100 Mbit/s. An external adaptor isn’t required, as both devices are powered over USB.
Both the black GIGA LAN-GTJUH3H3 and the white GIGA LAN-TXU2H3A will be launched in Japan later this month, at prices of €42 and €21, respectively. Details on a worldwide release have not yet been disclosed.
