Almost negating the need for its 3D Vision package, Nvidia has developed 3DTV Play, a software package that will enables people to link a GeForce-equipped system (desktop or notebook) to a 3D HDTV in order to enjoy 3D gaming on a large screen. In addition to 3D games (over 400 are supported), Nvidia’s solution ensures smooth playback of Blu-ray 3D movies, and the viewing of digital 3D photographs, on your future (or current if you’re an early adopter) 3D HDTV.
3DTV Play is able to run off a DVI or HDMI-boasting PC, it supports the HDMI 1.4 standard and the 1080p24, 720p60, and 720p50 3D formats, and it works with 3D TVs featuring active-shutter glasses or passive polarized glasses.

The Nvidia 3DTV Play software is going to become available later this spring priced at $40 and will be offered for free to those who bought the 3D Vision package.
To promote 3DTV Play Nvidia is joining Panasonic (who sells 3D HDTVs) on its 2010 “Panasonic Touch the Future Tour” which starts today and will show off the new VIERA 50-inch 3D FullHD TVs to people in 15 cities across the US.
