(TS) – Pioneer is preparing to release their newest portable Blu-ray writer ‘BDR-XD04′ in the US in mid-January. Claimed as the world’s smallest (5.2-inch x 0.55-inch x 5.2-inch) and lightest (240 grams) portable Blu-ray writer supporting BDXL, the BDR-XD04 features a USB 2.0 connection interface, a 4MB of buffer memory and promises to provide write speeds of up to 6x for BD-R (-DL).

The BDR-XD04 will retail for $149.99 and will come bundled with the following CyberLink software: PowerDVD 10 BD3D, PowerDirector 9 and Power2Go 7.
