Samsung has first Bluetooth 3.0-supporting mobile phone
(TS) – The Bluetooth SIG (Special Interest Group) has yesterday qualified the first ever mobile phone to feature Bluetooth 3.0.

Made by Samsung, the BT 3.0-ready phone is named GT-S8500, and it features a 3.1-inch OLED touchscreen, EDGE/GPRS and Quad-Band(850/900/1800/1900) support, and the TouchWIZ UI.

For those who can’t remember, the Bluetooth 3.0 standard, which was finished in April 2009, enables short-range data transfer at speeds of up to 24 Mbps (3MB/s). Unfortunately, the phone has not been unveiled by Samsung so it’s uncertain when we’ll see it in stores. Maybe the MWC will come with more info.
