Gigabyte Releases GA-970A-DS3 AMD-Based Motherboard

(TS) – Gigabyte has stealthily introduced a mid-range motherboard designed for central processing units (CPUs) from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). The new platform from Gigabyte features the AM3+ CPU socket and is part of the Ultra Durable 4 Classic series.

(TS) – Gigabyte hits back by announcing its newest mini-ITX motherboard, namely the MSH61QI. Unfortunately, the company didn’t reveal on release date also pricing which will be offered so far.

Based on Intel H61 Express Chipset, the board supports for LGA1155 processors and features two DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM slots, one PCI-Express x16 slot and two Mini-PCIe slots (full size + half size). In terms of connectivity ports, it offers two SATA 3.0 Gbps, two USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI. Pricing and release date are still unknown at the moment.

(TS) – ZOTAC also displayed an upcoming socket LGA1155 motherboard based on Intel Z77 chipset, in the mini-ITX form-factor, which is geared for overclocking, that’s right, overclocking. ZOTAC has, in the past, designed a similar motherboard based on the Z68 chipset.

(TS) – Speaking of MSI, the company announced its X79 chipset-based MSI Big Bang-XPower II. Billed as a flagship motherboard, the Big Bang-XPower II features 8 DIMM slots that support a total of 128GB of system memory, 4-way SLI/CrossFire X (with PCI-E Gen 3 support), and a 22-phase PWM design.

(TS) – People looking to build an HTPC for Christmas might want to check out the new motherboard that JEHE is preparing, the MI-Z68, based on the Intel Z68 chipset. The motherboard market is occupied with the Intel X79 chipset right now, the ones that support LGA 2011 Sandy Bridge-E CPUs.

There is no TDP restriction, as the board features a full-fledged CPU VRM that draws power from a 4-pin 12V connector apart from a 20-pin ATX connector (any of today’s PSUs with 24-pin connector will support it). The board uses a 4+1 phase CPU VRM, with single phase memory. There are two DDR3 DIMM slots, supporting dual-channel memory. The lone expansion slot is a PCI-Express 2.0 x16.

(TS) – Biostar has accustomed us with its fairly cheap but otherwise powerful motherboards and the launch of Intel’s LGA 2011 platform will be no exception to this rule as the company is preparing to release the TPower X79 board. Beginning with CPU power delivery, it appears that the TPower X79 is kitted-out with an 8-phase DuraMax VRM, together with active phase control and direct FETs. There’s also the use of POSCAP capacitors and a total of two 8-pin EPS connectors, as well as the usual 24-pin ATX variety. In addition, Biostar adds a Molex power connector, to beef-up PCIe slot power stability, six USB 3.0 ports (plus two via a header), Gigabit Ethernet, 7.1 channel audio, and an eSATA connector.

We can see a total of four DIMM slots, and the mainboard is said to play along with memory speeds up to DDR3-2400MHz.

The Back I/O panel features many connectivity ports which include Dual Gigabit Ethernet, 1 PS2, 8-Channel Audio, SPDIF, Clear CMOS, E-Sata, Firewire and a couple of USB ports (Probably USB 3.0). The motherboard’s expected release date would be in Q4 2011 with the launch of the Sandy Bridge-E processors.

(TS) – After getting a very good look at the GA-990FXA-UD7 earlier this week, we can now contemplate on another high-end AM3+ motherboard from Gigabyte, the GA-990FXA-UD5. The UD5 features a more conventional-looking component layout, with the northbridge located where it usually is. You still get the 10-phase VRM from the UD7, the black Ultra Durable 3 PCB, but this board is designed for multi-GPU setups with up to 3 graphics cards: supporting 3-way SLI and CrossFireX.
