(TS) – Acer missed the June 15 target launch date of its Cromia 700 Chrome OS powered notebook computers. Acer says it will be shipping WiFi-only AC700 notebooks before June ends, at the latest. The Acer AC700 is an 11.6-inch ultraportable that is said to deliver blazing boot times and instant access to the Internet thanks to a 16GB SSD and the Intel Atom N570 dual-core processor that has access to 2GB of DDR3 memory.

In addition, this Chrome OS based notebook packs a 1.3 megapixel (1280 x 1024) webcam, a HDMI output, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, Ethernet LAN, and two USB 2.0 ports, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a full-sized keyboard, a HDMI output, and a battery enabling up to 6 hours of use.

The WiFi-only AC700 costs $350 while the 3G-enabled version bears a price tag of $450.

Tuniq HD-Box digital media player get WiFi, Ethernet

(TS) – Taiwan-based company, Tuniq, manufacturer of computer cooling and cases, has entering media player market with developed the Tuniq HD-Box. The key feature of this player is capable to stream content found on a home network, internal drive or external storage devices to HDTV device.

Tuniq HD-Box player is equipped with a card reader (SD/MMC/MS Pro), USB 2.0 port, and a slot for 3.5-inch SATA hard drive (not included). In addition, the HD-Box provides Wi-Fi connectivity, Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps), HDMI connector and composite video output.

The Tuniq HD-Box is able to play videos with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD) with supports media formats such as AVI, MKV, DIVX, MP4, M4V, MOV, VOB, WMV, RMVB, FLV, XVID, H.264, MPG and MPEG. It is bundled with a remote control and has an aluminum enclosure.

Dimensions of Tuniq HD-Box are 190 x 170 x 65 mm. The cost of new Tuniq HD-Box digital media player is not yet announced.

(TS) – The BeBook Neo E-Reader is officially ready for orders and offers a bunch of useful features for eBook fans including WiFi and WACOM capabilities.

The Neo features a 6-inch e-ink display with Wacom touch panel technology, WiFi connectivity, USB 2.0 port with OTG support and a 3.5mm audio jack.

It comes with 512MB of internal flash memory (about 1000 ebooks) and it’s expandable up to 16GB with an SD card slot. It will support most of the popular formats such as ePUB, PDF, HTML, and etc. and the internal 1600mAh battery offers up to 7000 pageturns on a full charge.

Preorders are being taken now for £279.99 ($453), with general availability expected in February 2010.

(TS) – Some might think that the title is one lengthy typo, as it’s usually WiFi that depletes your battery, but we assure you it’s not. A company called RCA has managed to devise a great little gadget that will allow your phone to harvest WiFi energy and convert it into electricity, thus charging your mobile phone for free. Yes, you read it right – for free. (Tesla was a genius, but not much of a businessman. sub.ed.)

The device is called Airnergy and while this concept isn’t new, this seems to be the first time it’s found a practical use. In fact, the Airnergy managed to charge a Blackberry from 30% battery to full battery in 90 minutes, all the while using “free” energy.

The Airnergy packs a battery within, so all you need to do is carry it around with you in your pocket. Of course, reasonable proximity to WiFi spots wouldn’t hurt either, but the device runs all the time, so charging should not be a problem.

RCA says that Airnergy will hit retail in summer, with the same technology-based battery soon to follow, and will cost as low as $40, which sounds almost too good to be true. We just hope they stop using the word “free”, as history has proven many times that free energy is not something that “Big Brothers” would ever unleash on the great unwashed.

(TS) – Samsung has introduced what they are calling the world’s “first multi-wireless compact camera” in the 12.2 MP ST1000. In addition to it’s 3.5″ touch screen LCD, the ST1000 features WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS geotagging built-in.

Sensitivity ranging from ISO 80 to 4800, GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 10 shooting modes. The camera also features face detection (up to 10 faces) and can also prioritize them on the basis of most clicked face. Smile Shot, Blink Detection, Touch focus are amongst other features.
