(TS) – Western Digital’s My Passport Essential external/portable hard drives have become a bit more attractive thanks to the introduction of five new case designs – Boom Box, Black Hole, Cityscape, Fuchsia Leaf and Wave, created by California State University students.
Beside the new skins, the drives feature 500GB worth of storage space, a USB 2.0 interface, 256-bit hardware encryption, and are bundled with the WD SmartWare software providing data backup.
“The contents of individuals’ portable storage contain all the ways they express themselves – music, images, and videos – and tell a story about who they are,” said Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing of WD’s branded products group. “Expressing individual style is important. That’s why we teamed up with California State University, Long Beach design students, who have their finger on the latest fashion trends.”
The pimped-out My Passport Essential HDDs are backed by a two-year warranty and cost $119.99.
