(TS) – Microsofts latest operating system is the fastest selling ever and helps the company post some amazing quarterly figures.
It looks like Microsofts choice to allow consumers to use, test and help improve Vista’s successor really paid off, since last quarter they increased their profit by 43% to 8.5 billion USD on a revenue of 19 billion USD, of which 1.7 billion was by Windows 7 pre-sales alone.
After the bad reception of Vista this comes as a relief to Microsoft, Windows 7 is a huge success. A few months after the release it has a bigger market share than all of the OS X versions currently being tracked together, it’s already being used by 23% of all Steam users and the opinions about the OS are generally very positive. It looks like a turning point for Microsoft and hopefully for them they can keep the good vibe going with their coming operating systems, the first of which “Windows 8″ will arrive as soon as 2011 or 2012.
